As an apprentice served groomer, with 44 years experience to back up a thorough training, Mary is able to groom most dog breeds. Mary has a particular passion for poodles, having owned poodles for over 50 years and owned, bred and shown standard poodles for over 43 years she can prepare them to show standard. She has experience of most other trimmed breeds having worked consistently in kennels and dog grooming all her working life.
CLIPPING TRIMMING BATHING AND GROOMING.
As well as clipping; bathing; grooming and trimming dogs, their nails will be trimmed and anal glands emptied, as well as cleaning their ears. The teeth will also be checked and we will let you know if we feel your dog needs any veterinary attention.
Clipping cuts the coat, to various lengths, but some coats require "hand stripping" which is more time consuming. After removing the bulk of the coat we shampoo the coat, using conditioners if needed, and then towel and blow dry, grooming the coat at the same time. After drying the finishing trimming is done either stripping or scissoring as required. Dogs of different coats and sizes require different lengths of time to allow for a good finish that will last well.
GROOMING FEES.
Our fees vary according to the dog's size and coat, and the length of time taken. for example a well groomed yorkie may only be charged at £20.00 where a well groomed Standard Poodle in a pet trim is likely to be at least £30.00. Do phone for more specific rates.
We charge extra for de-matting a coat, and this will only be attempted if it can be done without causing a dog undue suffering. If it is too badly matted we will ask permission to remove the coat and let it grow through. De-matting is likely to damage both coat and skin and is not undertaken lightly.
A Guide to fees.
Charges start from £20.00 for a small well groomed yorkie or one that is trimmed short.
Poodles toys and mins start from £22.00 and Standards from £30.00 for well groomed dogs in 'lamb' trim, more complex trims and matted coats take longer and are charged according to style and condition. Mary expects poodles to book a regular appointment at least once every 6 weeks and made well in advance.
Spaniels start from £25.00 for cockers £28.00 for springers if being clipped, if stripping is required, this starts from £35.00 and £40.00 due to the time involved.
Terriers start from £22.00 for westies and other small clipped terriers, Airedales start at £30.00 clipped. If hand stripping is required fees for small terriers start at £28.00 an for Airedales at £45.00
